Filling Applications
Filler application are the second widest cosmetic procedures after botox. Due to aging, the volume begins to decrease in the skin and tissues supporting the skin. For this reason, sagging and lines occur. Present lines may be deeper. Fillers can be used to repair these support tissues and to make the lines less apparent.
Lines on the face can be evaluated under two topics.
Dynamic lines are the lines caused by gestures on the face, crow’s feet and forehead lines are dynamic lines and the first option to decrease these lines is botox applications.
Static lines are the lines which are apparent without any movement on the face. These are related to face structure and volume loss or dynamic lines getting deeper over time. Fillers would be more useful for these lines.
Generally it can be said that botulinum toxin is used for forehead and around the eyes, and filler are used for 2/3 lower part of the face.
What are fillers?
While the most widely used filler is preparate containing hyaluronic acid, hydroxyapatite, polylactic acid and polymethyl methacrylat filler are also used. Effect time and application method of each one is different.
How do fillers affect?
Filler increase the volume of the area and dept where they applied, also as they are hydrophilic materials they moisturize the area.
Some filler also increase the release of some proteins such as collagen which supports the skin.
What are the factors to choose the filler?
The filler is determined according to complaint of the patient, each of filler should be applied in different areas, with different concentrations and amount.
How permanent is the filler?
Hyaluronic acid fillers are permanent between 6-12 months depending on the brand. It is considered as 9 months on average.
For the patient applying for filler, first of all the filler is determined according to the complaint then local anesthetic creams are applied to numb the area and it should be waited for 15 minutes. Some of filling prepartes already have anesthetic ingredients which ease the pain. The area gets numb after the first application. After the area is cleaned, the filler in injected. Generally, it does not cause pain. When it is applied with needle, it causes mild pain and bleeding.
It should not be applied to pregnant, nursing people, those who have inflammation on the area to be filled, those who have bleeding disorder and allergy.
